Gregor and the Prophecy of Bane

The Underland Chronicles
#
2

Content Ratings

No Romance
There is no romance; Gregor's growing connection to Luxa is a friendship with hints of something more, but nothing romantic is developed.
Mild Themes
The novel raises questions about whether children should be required to fulfill violent prophecies and what duty to others really means; grief and moral complexity increase.
Moderate Violence
A character is killed; violent confrontations with giant sea creatures and rats involve real danger and loss; the series becomes notably more intense in this installment.
Synopsis

Gregor returns to the Underland to fulfill another prophecy, this time involving a giant white rat called the Bane whose death may prevent a war—but as Gregor and his friends navigate treacherous journeys through water and ice, he begins to question whether prophecy should determine a person's choices. A strong second installment that deepens the series' themes and darkens its tone.
