The Trials of Apollo

Content Ratings

No Romance
There is no romantic content; Apollo's relationships are played for comedy; Meg and Apollo's dynamic is firmly in the mentor-student mode.
Mild Themes
The novel opens with the death of a beloved character from previous series—handled with emotional honesty; Apollo must learn humility and to value others over himself; themes are handled with Riordan's characteristic warmth.
Mild Violence
Combat with monsters and a shadowy new villain's forces fits the established Camp Half-Blood adventure tone; the villains' methods—silencing Oracles—involve disturbing implications explored with age-appropriate restraint.
Synopsis

The god Apollo is cast down to earth by Zeus and must survive as a pimpled, powerless sixteen-year-old mortal named Lester, relying on a demigod named Meg to help him find his way back to Olympus and discover why the Oracles have gone silent. The first Trials of Apollo novel is funnier and more self-aware than previous series, with Apollo's self-centered narration providing fresh comedic perspective on the familiar world.
