Content Ratings

Mild Romance
Brief romantic acknowledgments among characters appear; Apollo's past divine relationships are referenced with characteristic self-deprecating humor; content is light.
Moderate Themes
Grief from the previous book's loss continues to shape the characters; the novel explores how communities mourn and persist after loss; the toll of war on the people doing the fighting is acknowledged.
Moderate Violence
Siege warfare at Camp Jupiter, combat with the undead and enemy emperors, and the deaths of characters create sustained tension; this is among the more violent entries in the series.
Synopsis

Apollo and Meg travel to Camp Jupiter, the Roman demigod camp, to free the fourth Oracle while mourning the loss they suffered in the previous book and facing a new threat from the undead emperor Caligula alongside the third emperor Commodus. A gripping penultimate installment that deepens the emotional stakes and sets up the series finale.
