Content Ratings

Mild Romance
Winnie develops a tender, age-gap emotional connection with seventeen-year-old Jesse Tuck; their bond involves a kiss and Jesse's hope that she will one day join him by drinking from the spring; the romance is sweet and understated.
Mild Themes
The novel invites readers to grapple with mortality, the desire for immortality, and the value of a natural lifespan; the shooting of a character and Winnie's ultimate decision carry quiet emotional weight.
Mild Violence
A woman is shot and killed by the villain; the killing is depicted clearly but not graphically and serves the story's moral stakes.
Synopsis

Ten-year-old Winnie Foster discovers a family called the Tucks who drank from a magical spring and became immortal, and must decide whether to drink from it herself after being caught up in their secret. As Winnie grows close to the Tuck family and the youngest son Jesse, she begins to understand the true weight of living forever. A short, beautifully written fable about life, death, and the natural order of things.
